Hi all. Been searching the net for a while for the answer to weather my cb400 superdream is a bitsa or a rare one. I think it's the last of the cb400 superdreams. But it has the alloy different style wheels with holes in the spokes. I've read somewhere that these are a rare model in the uk or could it be an import?? I've also read this model was only available in black red or white but mines silver.
I've had this sitting in my barn for over 15 years.

welcome twinhip, lets see a photo of your bike, and enjoy the forum, good bunch of lads on here. I haven't actually got any photos of it as we speak but will crack the barn open and take some in the next few days. She's not in bad shape seen as she's been sitting a while.

This is just to give an idea of Cb400ND exactly the same but mines silver. Same wheels!! Maybe they've been fitted at some point. Like it says the nd was only black red or white??

As soon as I get chance I will get some decent pictures and post them up. Maybe then you guys can shed some light on weather it's a rare one. When they say they're rare. How rare are they!??

I'm guessing that a UK registered ND would be one of only Hundreds, rather than the Thousands of the other model variants, but bear in mind they were still on sale in europe and Australia for a few years after sales faded here. The sales in the Honda range here, A reg onwards, tended to be increasingly diverted in the main to the VT250FD (which I bought)and the VF400F.
The ND is essentially a NC with new wheels, new paint scheme, black fork bottom cases, it was a nice but not radical change, except for the front wheel changing to 18" from the NCs 19" gold coloured reverse comstar.

I'm going to stick my neck out on this and suggest there are probably no CB400ND on these shores unless they have been bought over later on (after production finished).
So I am suggesting that the bike in question here will be found not to be an ND. For one thing, they were never available anywhere in silver to my knowledge.
At least give us a reg number to work with.

I never realised the ND front wheel dropped to 18". What did they do to compensate and retain the geometry- longer fork legs? The photo shows a pretty skinny tyre so the muddy must have been smaller too....
I have also never seen a ND in the flesh- but I think the wheels look great!

The ND front forks appear to be the same as the NCs, so I'm not sure they did compensate for the change, perhaps the handling was just a little different. The wheels are nice, my CB400F will be wearing a pair of this style this year (but in black). I would really like a White/blue/blue ND look-alike at some later date, with the silver wheels.

Right. The bike is not with me at the moment as its at my yard. However I have dug the log book out ( it's still the old blue one ) on the log book it says it's an import and was registered overseas declared manufactured in 1982. Now it's been a while since I looked at it so I can't say if it has black fork casings etc but it's def got the nd wheels. It's down as silver on the log book and frame number starts with N230.
