Hi all, After briefly getting my partly built bike started, I realised fuel leaking from around the fuel bowl seal. Today I've stripped and cleaned the carbs and fitted new rubber seals and float needle. Check the float heights and its 15.5mm, on the bench I put a bit of pipe on the fuel inlet and using a funnel filled the carbs with brake/clutch cleanr just to check its sealed and the floats are working. All seemed well until I saw fuel leaking out of both of these little outlets pictured above. What are they and why would they be leaking, should they have pipes on them? Cheers.

Hi
The little brass stubs should be left open to atmosphere .
The problem is often coursed by sticking float needles . The carbs keep flooding. .
try cleaning the seat with a cotton wool bud and something like brasso and clean the tip of the needle.
Sometimes the needles may need to be replaced.

I've replaced the needles with new ones, it was a bit dirty in the holes. Maybe I've not cleaned enough, will re check tomorrow.

I'm suspecting the flooding is being caused by the float heights - temperamental buggers at times.
Are the float needles brand new?

Just wondering if setting them to 16 mm height may stop them leaking.

Try anything with them....the adjustable floats can be a nightmare.
Factory set (non adjustable) are a lot less hassle.
