1. Does anybody know the size of the flanged hex bolts that hold the speedo casing down?... I want to replace my old rusty ones and don't know what size to order.
2. My engine casing has previously been hand painted (badly) do I need to strip it (if so how best) or can I just repaint it (spray cans or hand paint)
3. My bike backfires frequently and I have noticed the rubber that connects the carbs to the air box has a split in it.... Could this be the cause of my backfire?
Could really use your advice on these matters... Many thanks
Andidi

Welcome Andidi, I would say the rubbers split between the carbs and the engine will cause you plenty of problems. My experience of bikes backfiring is that fouled or faulty plugs will cause it, especially if a bike has been sitting up for a long time. As petrol builds up in the cylinder over a few cycles of no firing, then decides to fire and bang!. There are plenty of experienced people here who will advise you, enjoy.

Welcome Andidi I agree with Scania good answer.Regards the bolts they would be 6mm threads I used cap heads on mine instead of hex head,I would use paint stripper to get the paint off then polish or repaint but be carefull if stripper you use has caustic soda in it which will attack aluminium just be quick and wash off plenty water straight away
