These came in the post today. Bought them from ebay, the seller got em new when he was 18 in 1978! So glad they fit, in fact you'd think they were made to measure. Should go well with my Biltwell Gringo period helmet and knee high boots. They just need a wee bit of a clean, few dirty marks. Don't think they will all come out, especially on the white but then they are old!

very nice Scott, allways wanted a set too, look after them, leathers are for a lifetime, ex;ive still got mine from when i was 20 yrs old and my jacket from when i was 16 (for fungo; with tassles), get them cleaned professionly, this will dry the leather then leather food or saddle soap on the colourd parts, not sure for the white, but used it no probs on red.

You need to get some matching red, black and gold decals on that Gringo, Scott.

yeah I might get them cleaned professionally, my mum certainly thinks they need cleaned and that I need to try and get rid of the old leather smell to them but I like the smell. A few stains and dirty marks just ads to the character right?
The seller has put something on the leather, not sure what it is but its a bit sticky to touch.

I have an old Shoei full face I got from the States and when I stick it on it smells like an early 1980's Spanish lavatory - not in a nasty way but the aroma is similar to one of those fresher blocks that you find in urinals, mixed with a bit of cheap and stale cigarette smoke...Ducados possibly?
It really does remind me of a hotel lobby lavatory I went in whilst on holiday in 1982 in Ibiza.

What a fantastic find and buy- well done!
Just a boring suggestion- these are 35 years old. If you are to ride with these leathers as protection it may be advisable to get them re-stitched with modern Kevlar thread? I last had this done after an off wearing my Dainese leathers- quite cheap and worth doing....

Would you know by looking at them after that they had been re-stitched, where would I get that done?

One the subject of toilets. I've been using carbolic soap for a while, the pink stuff, for washing my hands once I come in from the garage. I find it works better than most household hand washes. Its got a great smell to it as well.

What's that stuff with grit in it? A hand wash with grit that I used to have to use at the end of the day at VW/Audi...
That had a distinctive smell as well.....orange smell I think. Deb or Jeb I think it was called.

Would you know by looking at them after that they had been re-stitched, where would I get that done? No- it all looks the same. For me- it was because skidding down the road at 65mph scuffed and weakened the original stitching. a track racer friend advised me that if I had another off with them the leathers might burst at the seams. I used a local (Lincoln) racing leathers supplier and can't remember it being too expensive....
