Had a lovely chat with the wife earlier about the cost of Xmas. Buying pressies for people who are never going to use or want them, over buying food that will only end up in the bin and all the other expense that's involved. So when I pointed this out and the money could have been far better spent on a new project for me she didn't seem impressed and thought I was selfish, in fact the idea was as popular as a fart in a lift. Roll on the uprising and end this waste of parts and project money.

I remember past Christmas's with fondness- when the kid's were young and seeing the surprise and enjoyment on their faces. But now they are grown up and gone much of what is left is sheer commercialism and I don't emjoy it. Apart from a chance to stop the world for a few days and catch up on sleep and relaxation....

of course I used to enjoy Christmas when I was younger. The older I get the more I am starting to hate it, just a waste of bloody money, buying things for the sake of it just because they've bought something for you. I told my mother I didn't want anything this year...

Hi All. Yes, I agree with all of the above but it is a time when it can bring people together. I have just had a lovely evening with my neighbours and am a bit p***ed, so please excuse any typos. Tomorrow is going to be a family day, so hope that all goes well. You know, it could go either way!! You may know the score, with children and grandchildren etc. Merry Christmas to All. Mike.

Christmas has grown into nothing but a comercial event with a build up starting months before the day and so much money wasted on pointless presents, kids expect and get too much nowadays and they don't give a toss about what Christmas realy means. It will all be over in 24 hours and bollocks to it all, could have bought myself the wheels I want for my bike but all of the grand kids HAD to have a present that we won't even be thanked for,Bah Humbug and roll on Saturday

I told my kids the best present to buy me would to NOT buy me one and spend that money on themselves.
