Hi guys looking for advice,My grandaughter is having a tablet for christmas and there is no Internet connection available through the phoneline until Dec 29, being a general numpty in these matters and having heard the word dongle is there any way I can utilize one of these such devices to enable her to link to the internet on Xmas day.Thanks in anticipation. Depending on your location and how friendly people are around you- you could also ask a big favour and see if any neighbours home wifi is available from your house. Quite surprising what is in range. Most BT Homehubs also broadcast a BT Openzone wifi by default which is a bit cheeky. Me being grumpy I always turn it off.....

My ipad picks up my immediate 2 neighbours next door but one and even my mate across the road,when I'm out and about most places have wifi for free

You can create a hotspot from your phone then she can tether wirelessly to it.

I have heard a lot about public wifi in Dublin being hacked by criminals who are able to record passwords, banking details etc. There have been a few Nigerian gangs arrested in relation to this. The banks over here are advising people not to use a public Wifi connection to access your bank account on line with. probably not a big problem for your daughters tablet, but just though I would pass this info on to yous.
