I saw a Givi rack on Ebay for a CB500 I'm rebuilding. There was no postage listed, just free collection, but in the description the seller said he would post but contact him first for a quote. I sent a message, asking if he would post to IoM by either Royal Mail or MyHermes & he replied he was happy to do so, so I bid on it & won. I paid for the item & messaged him to let me know how much he wanted for the post, but got no reply. That was over a week ago. I've sent a further message via Ebay & emailed his Paypal email address, but still no reply. I can't believe anyone would risk bad feedback for £35, let alone risk an Ebay ban - maybe he's had an accident or been taken ill. I've never had a problem before, so I don't know if it's worth chasing Ebay's money back guarantee. Anyone used it?

I think in this case, you will have to use any available ebay / paypal tools necessary to recover your dosh, Ian. My guess is that there is a simple explanation for his current lack of response, so of course I think you should give him perhaps a little while longer to get in touch......I assume you have sent at least two messages requesting an invoice for payment?
Time is the key though. I would advise you to leave it at least until Sunday/Monday before getting ebay involved.
Just out of interest, how does his feedback rate? And how long has he been a member on ebay?

I think you've to wait a certain amount of time before eBay will intervene anyway. I've won a few cases before and have always found eBay will sort it out. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll wait a bit - I'd rather have the rack than the money back! I'm sure there's a simple explanation too. He has 100% feedback, but has only been a member a short while - maybe lack of experience.....

I'm going to relocate this thread to the general chat section Ian because I believe you may get more opinions and response there. This section of the forum generally caters for shit merchandise that's for sale on ebay / gumtree etc you see. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about your money. If you don't hear nothing, raise a dispute with ebay. They will instantly or fairly quickly re-imburse you. Ebay is geared towards the customer(as the customer is king) and is dead set against poor sellers and traders.

Thanks for all your advise on this. I never heard anything from the seller, raised it with Ebay & got my money back just as you all said. I was pretty impressed with their response.

Hi, if you paid via Paypal just log into the Paypal site and look at your transactions, find the one that's for the item and then follow the instructions for a refund stating the item never arrived or is not as described, Paypal will withhold the money from his account and if he has already taken it out they will automatically take it out of his bank account or credit card which he has to register to use Paypal. Your money you sent is guaranteed to be refunded if there is a problem only thing is Paypal will usually take a while to sort it out, mine took 3 weeks but they do keep you informed, Just to let you know there are more crooks on e-bay than you think so don't be fooled by positive feedback, I think we have all been scammed at one time or another, but don't worry you will get your money back and if you have used the e-bay messages system, Don't delete any messages as this is your proof that he hasn't abided by the terms of the sale as the email forms part of the formal contract of purchase which Paypal will look at. Don't let this put you off buying, just be very aware of who you are dealing with in the future, there are some very good people selling on ebay who wont cause you any trouble.
