I seem to remember someone saying one side (header/downpipe original) was harder to get hold of than the other? anybody know which one? as a pair i have has rust only on the one pipe, the right one?

Genuine RHS ones are more difficult to source than left.
Take your one off and have it rechromed?
Getting a second hand one that only has slight surface rust and rechroming it is a possible solution?

thanks na44, i will probably get it rechromed, but i wonder why one pipe is more difficult to source?

yes it is strange, someone speculated that it was the bikes were being dropped on roundabouts and scrapped the right pipe more frequently than the left, but no idea really. Gee is getting one re-chromed, honda-superdream.co.uk/thread/3192/rhs-header . I've had two RHS rechromed by agbrigg mentioned in the thread, they look lovely, but I have not run any yet and don't know if they will colour differently from the originals at temperature (better than rust in any case).

Maybe Honda made more LHS thinking more would get damaged if the bike fell off the side stand.
But the evidence is certainly not damning.
Why is the LHS headlamp bracket rarer than the right? And the RHS silencer? I don't really think there is an explanation.
