With the MOT due in December I have checked the bike thoroughly today and think it should fly through, however I'm no mechanical mastermind.
Are there any weak points or things they look for on our bikes that you guys could advice on, or maybe your bike has failed on.
Thanks.

Take bike to test clean, brakes and tyres should be 100% ok,leaky fork seals will fail but if bike is in good overall presentable condition it will pass.

Maybe a silly question, but if there was no oil left in your forks and so the bike was a bit bouncy, would it still pass ? one of my SD's should be near dry soon, I like the bounciness of it, it reminds me of Davefirestorm's bouncy jap girl !

if there is no oil in the forks they will not be damping properly and should fail on that. I wouldn't want to be riding it like that either, you'll wear them out much quicker too. One tip if you've got pitted fork stanchions, it to decrease them thoroughly and araldite the pits up, much cheaper than rechroming and means to you fit new seals without fear of them only last 5mins. Also if your forks are leaking but you have fork boots fitted this can hide that at the MOT, the tester isn't allowed to look under them.

There are a pair of rubber gaiters on the rougher of my 2 SD's and the fork sliders are like new underneath so although bit unsightly they do a good job
