HI PLEASE CAN ANY FORUM MEMBERS HELP ME I HAVE HAD BOTH 250 AND NOW 400 SUPERDREAMS ,I WAS GOING TO MOVE TO BIGGER BIKES BUT THE 400 IS SO QUICK AND EASY TO RIDE . I CANT SEE MYSELF EVER BEING APART FROM IT UNTIL NOW . THE ENGINE IS STARTING TO LEAK AT THE HEAD , I HAVE STRIPPED BOTH ENGINES SO MANY TIMES NOW IT DID NOT WORRY ME THAT A TOP END REBUILD WAS GOING TO BE REQUIRED . THEN I NOTICED THE CAMCHAIN WAS GETTING A RATTLE ALSO THE LAYSHAFT BEARING BEHIND THE SPROCKET WAS GETTING NOISY SO I THOUGHT IT BETTER TO DO A COMPLETE REBUILD . AGAIN NOT A PROBLEM I THOUGHT , I RANG DAVE SILVER SPARES WHO HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT OVER THE YEARS , EVERYTHING WAS ORDERED . THEN TO MY SHOCK I WAS TOLD THE CAMCHAIN TENSIONER BLADE WAS DISCONTINUED HOW CAN YOU BUILD AN ENGINE WELL WITHOUT A NEW ONE . I HAVE CHECKED ALL PATTERN SUPPLIERS AND AT THE MOMENT THEY ARE NOT BOTHERING MAKING ONE . IS THIS THE END OF THE SUPERDREAM I HEARD IN 1 MAGAZINE YOU CAN HAVE NEW RUBBER PUT ONTO YOUR OLD BLADE BUT WHO DOES THIS PROCESS IN ENGLAND . PLEASE CAN YOU ALL TELL ME YOUR TIPS OR VIEWS ON THIS MATTER CHEERS CRAIG

Hi. I have just looked on the CMSNL site and they have one tensioner left, so if you are quick you may be able to get it. Please see the link below. The postage from the Netherlands is a bit pricey though. Hopefully as the supply of original parts dries up, good quality pattern parts will become available. It's a bit of a worry though. www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb400n-1978-england_model15809/partslist/E05.html#resultsAll the best. Mike.

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum. As Mike has shown, you can still find scarce parts with a bit of searching. Silvers seem to turn up these sort of parts from time to time too. One example being the cylinder head bolts with a seal on the stem - 1st time I rebuilt my 400 engine they didn't have any, but a while later when I did it again they had them back in stock. Pistons & rings seem to come & go too. So I don't think you need to panic. Yet.....

Hi I was contemplating starting to collect the parts needed for a future rebuild and you prompted me into searching for a cam chain tensioner Found this one for £41.63 with free postage www.diyspareparts.com/parts/honda/tensioner-chain-14500-413-000/Forget that, bunch of timewasters accept your payment then say they haven't got one as its discontinued. Won't be going there again!!
