Hi allNow if put a couple of hundred miles on the 250 which sat for a long time I'm noticing a good knocking rattling at low revs , quietening down over 3000 revs I'm hoping its can or balance chain related . I am planing on poping off rocker for a manual adjustment of cam chain and shall check valve clearance. Can anyone describe balance chain noise, the adjuster is fully round in the slot so a bit of a guide to turning it on the splines would help. Can clutch casing be removed with brake pedal and exhaust still in place I'm praying its not big end or crank knocking but I'd a thought revs would bring out more noise, any help or ideas appreciated mike..:-\

Well im replying to my own post as none of the 100plus views have done so.
Good news balance chain easy adjustment quadrant off move on splines retension bobs yr uncle. Checked punch mark on splined shaft sitting at11oclock so all good. Did tappets and cam chain adjustment again and discovered the generator fly wheel was loose. Cleaned and tightened and engine now quiet as a cb250n superdream gets. A nice whurrr and a tiny tick tick half a thou out on tappets do well for now.

Glad you got it sorted, whats is the purpose of the balance chain? I thought counter balancers were always fitted direct on the crank shaft, so why the chain?

Happy New Year everybody! I need to change the counter balance chain on my CB400n. Any ideas about where to find it in UK or EU?
Thanks!
