I am having great trouble with fork seals leaking. My bike failed the MOT on Offside Stanchion Leaking. I already had a set of Nikone seals and sought advice from a local bike shop so as not to fit the seal upside down. Changed the seal, put everything back together and it leaked. So took everything apart again. fitted a new seal the other way around and that also leaks. So whichever way the seals are fitted, they leak. I am stumped. Can it be that Nikone seals are not the best of quality? I have had problems in the past with car drive shaft boots not lasting as the quality is no longer in the product. Any advice is welcome.

That,s a good idea mate, thanks for that, I have ordered a seal from David Silvers. Already tried the thicker oil work around, did not work for me.

You are not alone!
Changed the seals on my CB125TDC last year using the Haynes book of lies as a guide. They leaked. Bought another set then realised that had put first ones in upside down. Second set worked right from the off. Stick with it mate - you'll get there!

I wonder what would happen if you left the oil out for the mot, do they actually check for springiness !

Thanks Richard, and Scania. Glad to hear I am not the only one having Fork Seal problems. Without the oil in there, the forks are very bouncy, its the oil that damps the springs. I tried with a thick gear oil, (don't try this at home) The forks were very stiff but still leaked. I am now sure that I have a set of brand new rubbish seals that didn't go through the company quality checking process, (assumes that they even had one) Am waiting on a set of seals from David Silver Spares.
