Any ideas anyone please?
I have checked for a spark, using accuspark gadgets, all ok, and have now cleaned the carbs three times, I'm sure the floats are at the correct levels but the wretched thing will start and only run on the left hand cylinder.I've loosened off and re-torqued the head bolts. I'm going to try some easy start ( naughty naughty, but I'm getting desperate now), It seems as if there is no mixture being drawn in, as the plug doesn't get wet. any one got a suggestion or two? Oh, and although there is no oil on the plug , the threads are oily. thanks in advance Dave

try the WD40 treatment, spray round the manifolds when its ticking over, rubber boots, if the revs increase while you are spraying, you have a air leak, give it a go.

If both plugs are sparking then i would have a look at fuel not getting to the righthand carb, good luck

Hi Dave. A compression test would be a good idea. This would be a good indication that the valves are doing what they should and that there is not a hole in the piston. To check that fuel is reaching the right hand carb is relatively easy, just loosen the drain screw and check that fuel flows out of the overflow. Having said that, a squirt of "easy start" in the carb inlet would tell you if the cylinder was capable of firing. Good luck. Mike.

Thanks all, I squirted easy start, and the cylinder (its the left) would fire while it used up said easy start then cease firing. even leaving it running doesn't seem to get it any better.Problem is, because it's not taxed and MOT'd, I can't take it out and just be brutal by blowing the cobwebs out, and I don't want to upset the neighbours with a lot of engine revving. I'll try the compression test route,I think, and have another look at the float position, there was certainly no fuel coming out when i just tried that. Thanks again folks Dave

Hi Dave. I think you have found the problem. I would not bother with a compression test at the moment. It seems that the fault is that there is no fuel getting to the right hand carb.,possibly due to a blockage in the interconnecting pipe or the float needle valve itself. Hopefully easy to find. Good luck. Mike.
