Hi, I need some advise, I have 2 rear brake back plates, one is silver or aluminum spray painted, the other is polished aluminum with what appears to be a clear lacquer spray the bike is a 81 CB250n which I'm trying to get back to original specs. Tony

The rear brake plate always matches the rear wheel finish on 99% of all models.
Only exception to my knowledge is a 250n Aussie model

thanks guys, didn't realize the Aussie version differed from the Pammie ones, I suppose I have the choice of either one and still retain originality???

Most of the silver ones (in appearance) appear to be polished alloy then clear lacquered.
Oddly though, my 400NA one seems to have been painted silver.....and it looks factory.
Will look into this further.......

The original back plate is the silver painted one, on the 250n 81, the shiny polished one I got via a motorcycle wrecker and has the 400n sticker on it it. Just seems strange that Honda would have gone to the trouble in producing two versions of the same part!! Tony

The NOS ones I've seen are certainly polished alloy then clear lacquered, Tony.
I'm guessing some folk have opted to spray them silver (just like they do the forks) in order to tidy them up when the old white spot corrosion gets under the lacquer and makes them look really ugly.

Some were reflected in a slightly differing part number (usually in the last three digits) and sometimes not.
You will also find that sometimes they made exactly the same parts but with different part numbers.
