Hi, sorry to hear about your accident, did you really break your ankle or just sprain and bruise it? What speed were you doing? Was it just the weight of the bike falling on your ankle that done the damage? Was the Aprial , an Aprila Pegaso ? I had been thinking of getting crash bars for my SD 400n, would crash bars have been of any help to you in this case? Hope you don't mind all the questions ! HI Scania I ripped the tendons off the bone on one side of my ankle, that in turn pulls slithers of bone with it. I went down on the right side and believe it was the bike that did my ankle, it didn't hurt so much at first. My shoulder is also done though it's only muscular damage. They(the ambulance crew) wanted to cut me out of my textiles and boots, so I hobbled about on one leg to get them off, I managed to save them. My lid did it's job as well cus thats got a nice scape down the visor, I think slow speed spill are worse in one way as you don't slide out of the way. The speed was around 15-20 mph, the bike is an Aprillia Pegaso 650, crash bars would have helped; basically they stop all the cosmetic damage to your bike.

I firstly sped read your description and I misread it as though the ambulance crew wanted to cut off your testicles ! So I figured you must have got well caught between the tyre and the fork ! I then read back over it slowly and clarified that they wanted to cut of you textiles which would not have been as serious. I actually like the Pegaso as it looks nicer than the BMW gs650G but still has the Rotax engine. It sounds more painful than long term serious. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Unlucky Bob get well soon, sure you could ride the bike anyway, nobody uses the back brake and thousands of bikers wear flip flops. Well in India anyway

I have news, I went to the fracture clinic today for a 15.05pm appt. Well it was short and sweet They cut my pot off after my consultant went "it's a bad sprain"............. "i had a look at your x-rays, they don't know what there talking about in A&E"...... I was like But my ankle and calf muscle is twice the normal size and is painfull So I rang my boss he was incredulous, he was like "so they put a pot on you for nothing", "yup" I replied So it's light duties for me and if the swelling goes down, i'm coming on the meet victoria
