I've notice a lot lately that people are selling their 2 Strokes as Hybrids, and are asking for lots of money for them. Basically they look almost standard but have uprated wheels and suspension front and rear. Most come with a few other mods, but that is pretty much it.
The question is, if you created a Superdream Hybrid, would it be worth more-less-or the same as a standard model ? It is important that it would still look relatively standard.
Opinions please.

Hi. I think it is a case of everyone to their own. Restorations seem to be a very personal thing. Some people go for originality and everything has to be NOS and shiny. Others prefer not to over restore, keeping the patina. Some like to create something original, mixing and matching parts. Some of the so called hybrids could be termed a Bitsa (Bits of this Bits of that), just hastily thrown together in the hope of making a fast buck and others could be very well thought out combinations of parts to create something that looks and performs better than the original. I suspect the above would be true for a modified Superdream, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and probably the prospective purchaser. Just my thoughts. Mike.

This has been going on since the motorcycle was invented and isn't a new thing, the only thing that annoys me about it is the perceived need to come up with some new stupid name for them like hybrid, call it modified, custom or whatever but hybrid I suppose it depends on what someone is looking for as has been said some people like perfectly restored some like modified. If the modifications are well thought out and well engineered and actually improve the performance / handling of the bike then thats a good thing, if you are going to ride it. I think it also depends on how sought after and how valuable the bikes are I can't see anyone buying a Vincent Black Shadow and sticking a single sided swing arm and upside down forks on it. On the question of Superdreams they were never meant to be a performance motorcycle so some of the mods which make sense on a sports orientated 2 stroke would not make sense on a Superdream, so in my opinion an original nicely restored example is always going to be more sought after and therefore more valuable than someones interpretation of improvement.

I think there should be a low against defacing SDs ! I wonder how many were made in total and how many have survived still in tact and looking basically original?
