Morning all, I'm after a set of standard piston rings and a set of gaskets. Who do you recommend. Cheers Mark

David Silvers are the "go-to" guys for these kind of parts. TBH I haven't bought anything for a while but they have been ok in the past. Just be aware of their pricing policy (as I say ,its been a while since I bought from them so may have changed) all prices quoted are + vat + quite expensive carriage+vat,so by the time you click pay for the reasonably price £10 item your final bill will be at least double that. It might be worth trying to find a direct web site to buy from the manufacturers for the rings (used to be Hepolite but i have not rebuilt an engine in a long time). Sometimes your local engineering shop, that undertakes reconditioning engines, will be happy to supply the bits you mention often at a very reasonable price.CMS seem to be able to supply everything BUT they are in Denmark,I believe, and their shipping charges ,on top of their high prices means it wont be a cheap do. Finally ,I recently got a top end set from eBay DE (ebay item 160880947856) for a 400 for £22 inc p&p,listing is still live so might be just the job.Busters also do reasonably priced full engine gasket sets. Good luck ,Cheers Nix

Yep I've looked at silvers and noted what you've said myself. I'm just concerned that some of the parts on eBay can be a bit substandard, but I will have a good trawl around and see. Just posted on the forum incase everyone dealt with a particular supplier. Thanks for your reply and input Nix.

I'm all for saving money with pattern parts, but I don't think it's worth taking chances with stuff like this. For my engine rebuild, I got individual Honda gaskets from Silvers, a bit more expensive than an aftermarket kit, but small beer in the overall cost of an engine rebuild. Your stuck with some pattern parts - valve seals springs to mind. The first set I got were rubbish & ended up in the bin. Your ok with standard rings, their still available, but pistons are becoming a problem. I got some +25 for my 400 12 months ago, but I see Silvers don't have any sizes now. Bearing shells have already been discussed - engine rebuilds gonna be a problem in the future?
