Strange but quick question- can anyone remember way back when you were looking, poking, prodding your hearts desire in the Honda showrooms of the late 70's/early 80's- were the bikes PDI'd and essentially "live". Were the batteries connected, oil added, ready for use? Or were they just assembled out of the crate for showroom use....

From what I can remember, my SD was ready to go from the off.
HGB's of Ruislip had a whole batch of pre-registered 250's waiting for buyers because of the new 250 laws, so they were discounted to £795 all in.

Thanks for the info- safe to say then that the bikes in the showroom were just put together to display, then one from a crate usually assembled and PDI'd for the eager owner......

Yes I believe that's how they did it,I remember local Honda dealer used to assemble bikes from the crates in a car park from a lock up near their shop

All I know is that I recently walked into a Honda motorcycle showroom and I quickly turned around and walked out, nearly all their latest bikes look S**t !
Honda are now at the bottom of my list if I was ever getting a new bike.
