One way to avoid using up storage on the site chaps is to keep all your photos and other pictures on a hosting site such as Photobucket (I know, it aint the friendliest, but there are others) and use the 'links' to drop the photo into your post.

As long as folk understand that pics loaded directly to proboards may not stay on the forum then why is the need for donations even an issue? Has proboards suggested we may be near a limit yet? No disrespect to anybody but I'm totally against a donation button. When the time comes that it is a definite necessity then that is another matter, donations should be a very last resort when all other avenues have been looked at. Please don't take this as an over reaction, I just see this as the thin edge of a wedge that we've all seen before.

thing is cheggs our limit is on the rise, if members start using photobucket or something like it then we should be ok,
the cost of domain and proboards hosting as come out of my pocket, not a problem, but its rising, two things may have to happen
that is donations to cover the storage or i remove attachments for everyone, please remember we have not reached that crisis yet.

I think the problems we encountered before were due to the man receiving the donations not the donations themselves. I don't think any one should be out of pocket, as we all share the benefits so we should all share the burden. I think Steve has made clear it donations will be a last resort so lets not panic yet and thanks again Steve for the work you and others put in to keep the forum running.

You mean just to use a link to photo bucket , rather than post picks on the forum is that what you mean steve. Within Photobucket, there is a menu on each photo that asks you to 'get links'. Clicking on this then gives you the option to click on one of the options highlighted - usually the best is 'img'. By doing this, and then pasting the link into your post on here the photo will automatically show in your post - but it will not actually be hosted by this site, thereby saving on storage space. Of course, you will need to keep your photos in their same folders/locations as when you first 'linked' them, otherwise if you move or delete them from Photobucket then they will not display on here. Hope this helps? PS - see this thread for fuller details: honda-superdream.co.uk/thread/486/guide-using-photobucket

And if it did come down to paying to keep the forum rather than donations what would you think if it was a fixed rate for a fixed time and may be free for newcomers as a trial period to see if they want to stay on here just a thought

pics on facebook work 2 if you have an account. Right click the picture when in full screen mode and select "copy image location". Then just past the html link in your thread / reply. Im using firefox, so the option in explorer may not bee there??
