Hi all
Just a quick introduction. I live in the midlands and I had a CB400NC from new in the eighties and thoroughly enjoyed it but finances (or lack of) meant it had to be sold.
I had another CB400N later on but this to was sold to a work colleague who had at the time a CB250N. He stripped it down to do a restoration but eventually it just languished at the back of his garage. I eventually bought it back (now in kit form) but due to health issues that arose it has just sat in my shed.
I doubt I will ever get it back on the road myself but am unsure at the moment as to whether to sell as a complete project or as separate items to help the many, perhaps the groups views may help me decide.
You may need more information to give advice:-
It is an earlier model 400.
The parts are probably all there minus a few nuts/bolt, battery and number plate.
It has a two into two exhaust with pattern end cans, a fabricated box section collector box, and two new down pipes.
I have quite a few extra parts in the kit of parts including spare side panels, spare wheels,CB250Brake caliper unit & two CB250N carb sets.
I am enjoying reminiscing as I work through the forum.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Ade

Hi ade, welcome. Are you sure you don't want to keep it? Tbey're easy to rebuild & there's plenty of help here - sound like it would make a good project for someone.

Welcome Ade, This is a great place to find help and encouragement. I wouldn't do anything with it for a while....see how you feel after visiting the forum for a few weeks. (My money is on you rebuilding it................one day).

Hi ade seen as you feel so much for your SD it would be nice to see you get it on the road you don't have to do an immaculate job just bolt it back together and ride if you can and enjoy good luck mate

hi ade,
if its in the shed then you have somewhere warmish and dry to work on your old bike, even if its only an hour a day.
I assume your are still able to drive ( ride ) so whats stopping you. you will enjoy doing the bike I'm sure and the sense of achievement is fantastic, its good for you.
I don't have to be "show room " standard ( you should see mine!! wins a prize at every show ( worst in show ) but at least I ride it there and back!!!! ) at all, just mot able and a runner.
parts are available and relatively inexpensive and the bike is worth more if assembled, a living sd again.
there is lots of help on here, just ask.

That's right and if your bike is in the shed and you and the mrs argue she can't threaten to beat your bike with a hammer cause it's all ready done there's method in Richie's madness

Thanks for all the comments and the welcome.
The bike is taking up too much needed space in the shed and if I do no move it on now to someone I think it will be in the same state a year from now. I appreciate the encouragement to do the restoration myself but, (1) due to ongoing health issues this is unlikely to take place and (2) I do have another bike on the road that I can ride when well enough.
Yes it would make an ideal project for someone (but at this time it will not be me), or for splitting and helping a few members to get needed items.
I realise that a fair bit money could be made selling this as a completed bike or selling as separate parts, but all I want realistically is to recuperate the £150 I spent on getting the bike.
The forum is great and I will remain a member as I will always have a soft spot for the superdreams.
Keep up the good work of the forum.

I have a lot of photos I took when I thought about Ebaying the parts, but then thought I could do without the hassle. I will look into creating a Photbucket account and post a few of them.
