Don't know what is correct, but here is a suggestion for the case & barrels/cylinder head.. Though I don't think I would be putting the oven to more than 130 C to cure paint on aluminium components! www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/"Aluminium VHT spray paint 500ML VHT (very high temperature) spray paint upto 500 degrees C. Ideal for painting crankcase and engine casings, also good for wheel hubs, fork lowers and and any other aluminium part, no primer required. CURING: Allow all surfaces to dry for up to 10 hours. Curing can be carried out by operating heat generated by the engine. Alternatively, bake in an oven for 1.5 hours building up the heat gradually to a max of 220 C." Type Autotek Lubricants Part No AUTOTEK ALUMINAUTOT-EK -ALUMIN Price £4.95 (£5.94 inc vat EU) Approx € 6.26 | $ 8.40 ¥ 855.81 Quantity Stock 10+ in Stock - Usually ships in 48 hours www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB400F-SUPER-SPORT-FOUR/part_224126/

Is it a must to oven cure pain on the Aluminium side panels on the SD ? What would happen if I cleaned with fine wire pad and just sprayed on a thermal rated silver paint ?

Etch should be fine on side covers, i have used etch on my barrels and cylinder head only because years ago i etched my barrels on a 2 stroke and they were fine and you know how hot a 2 stroke gets, give you an example to think about, imagine how hot a car bonnet gets with engine running in a 90 degree climate.

Just thought i would mention etch would be no good on down pipes and collector boxes, you need very high temp paint for that and even then you would have to refresh it every so often

Dont forget to etch primer your bare alloy before paint, belt and braces kind of thing, Is 'Etch primer' a primer paint?
Years ago I remember in a tech school we etched copper with an acid to clean it, then we washed off the acid.
To you do something like this with the 'Etch primer' before applying primer undercoat on the aluminium?

Etch primer is an acid based paint, you can buy it in aerosol cans, the etch primer eats into the metal and forms a base for your colour to adhere to, if you dont etch your metal before your top coat of paint then chances a your paint will flake and chip off your metal
