I'm interested in converting a 400n into a Cafe Racer. I've rooted around and found a firm called CRK ( cafe racer kits ) in the Isle of Wight. I wondering if any of the members have had any dealings with them and what your views are on doing this. The finished bike looks really good and I would welcome any comments. Thanks Mark

Nice Mark but expensive, I think Carl (Greybeard) is considering something similar.

Thanks Harold, yes it is a bit expensive but does look a well thought out good quality kit. Some of the homemade cafe racers I've seen are not the best and in my opinion have ruined a good bike. Mmmmmmm plenty to think about !!

They do seem well engineered and thought out Mark and I agree with you about some home made ones, some people think if you take the seat and side panels off and stick on a homemade poorly covered flat seat its a cafe racer. The thing is I don't think the Superdream frame lends itself well to customising due to the box section frame, tubular frames can be made look a lot neater and lend themselves better to different tanks.

Hi suki, i am building a sort of cafe racer at the moment, the kits from crk look good and i have spoke to the owner who is called ian and he is a really nice guy,you could take bits of his kit and add some of your own. I have decided to put my own spin on my bike, i dont know if it will turn out nice or ugly but i am having a go at trying to get my bike to how i think it will look nice to my taste, i have done a unique seat design to convert into a duel seat if required, hope it works, anyway i hope to do some more work on her soon as we are coming back from holiday in turkey tomorrow, back in uk for 4 weeks then off to ibiza so progress maybe a little slow

Suki, i'm over on the Isle of Wight, but have not had any dealings with CRK. A colleague of mine saw their show bike in the Honda dealers an display, he said the quality looked very good. I've not seen it myself, i'd like to see a bare metal version, as paint can hide a multitude of sins. From what other people have said though, the bloke who makes them is good at what he does. Do you have any local guys that do tin bashing, might be worth seeing if there is a trusted fabrication shop you can discuss your needs with.
Loz What arm and wheel did you have on that?
