100 years ago today saw the start of the 1st World War I give thanks for the sacrifices those men and women made both in foreign fields and at home so that we may know freedom. I watched a programme on the Pals Battalions and it was heart breaking to hear the stories of what those young boys endured for almost four years an inspiration to us all.
Thank you to the men and women from the UK and the Commonwealth who volunteered millions of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.
We will remember them.

I just hope todays youngsters understand what their ancestors had to endure, i read somewhere recently "i am shitting myself,i could cry, i never want to go through this ever again!.......this was someone entering big brother! In the same article there was an interview extract from a first world war soldier go over the top and he was quoted as saying "it was a bit of a rum do"...sort of puts things into perspective doesn't it?

I placed a candle in the window and turned off all the lights at 10pm last night, couldn't see that any of my neighbours did the same!!
