Got lots of little jobs done today. This morning was spent doing DIY and general house work duties so we'll move swiftly on from that!!!. After lunch tho the garage door went up and out into the sun came the NC! First job fit the new clocks that came from Stevellew, and damn fine they look on the bike, really nice set with no fading at all,a test drive showed they move much more smoothly than the old set plus the trip counter has a reset button and it works,BRILL! Next up swap the front wheel for the one that came in the Bobber (Bob was originally a very late NB with black fork bottoms and gold wheels-I didn't like the look of the gold wheels so they have come out and a tidy set of early silver comstars and 250 forks, single disc gone in). It has a part worn Pirelli Strada, 100/90/19 fitted which has got to be an improvement over the Flying Monkey Brand thing that the bike came with. I also fitted the correct NC discs that I got a couple of weeks ago, cleaned and greased the bearings (all brand new just before I got Bob) and bolted her in. While the calipers were un-mounted I stripped the pads out and gave them a thorough clean including treating the piston seals and slides with my favourite stuff Red Rubber grease. The NC twin pots are a joy to work on,so simple and easy to disassemble and service ,not least because some excellent former owner had the foresight to fit stainless steel pad pins, made up for the fact he had then painted the calipers with black Dulux!!!! All back together, everything tightness checked and off for a little try out. All good! New brakes bedded in after a few applications and now feel beautiful, front tyre bites the road much better too so the bike feels even better - I'm so enjoying this little rolling restoration ,every day another small improvement is made and the bike is really growing on me. Also took the chance to re-mount the rear winkers, straighten the slightly bent prop stand and tighten up the pivot so the bike no longer leans alarmingly when on the side stand,I also re routed the handle bar switch wiring, clutch cable and choke cable- all little things but each one improves the bike a bit more. Yep,another good day.
