I have purchased a new fork top bolt but instead of being smooth shouldered around the nut there is a raised circle the same diameter as the nut is this for a specific model or just a factory second? the one in question is on the left with a "normal" one on the right. I found it incredibly difficult to get a decent photo because of the reflection but I think you can just make it out.

Hi Graham,
I know exactly what you mean. I've purchased a few of these bolts over the years and one, I remember, was exactly as you describe...
It is quite annoying if you don't have a matching pair, isn't it?
It could be a factory second 'doing the rounds'.....

Although it is hard to understand Honda letting a 'factory second' get through......but I guess you never know.
And I am sure there was never a design change otherwise the 90123-413-000 part number would have superseded....
It is a weird one and, as I say, I've only ever seen the one like that.

Thanks, as you say a wierd one. I do have a good pair so all is not lost and I am not the type to offload this onto someone else without being honest. So for the moment I will continue searching.

If you picture it and people are clear what they are buying, you are not offloading it deviously...
For most people, it would not concern them....in fact some may not even notice it.
You like me it bugs slightly.....
