Just picked these up from Dave Flakey.... Now I have had all my Silver tanks refreshed and re- lacquered. As I have one surplus, I think I will be putting one on the bay later........

He has now certainly had enough practice by working on my gear.... He's now worked on around 8 of my tanks. Crouchy needs some work doing by him as well. Let me know if you want his details guys.

Discussed yesterday- I like the way this guy can work around the decals. I've got 2 or 3 NOS tanks with minor cosmetic damage/paint chips which I bet he can sort out....

With ease, Paul.
That said, to date, I've only ever asked him to do silver....
What are the colours?

I could get my Candy Red NA tank sorted by him. It doesn't need a complete respray and I need to keep the original decals. Is he pricey?

Paul - yes this is common damage to the tank - that rib is very vulnerable. He sorted one of my silver deluxe tanks - the one I got from the States which was NOS but it had that kind of damage at the bottom from storage in one area. He sorted that then re-lacquered and polished the whole tank leaving the decals undisturbed.. For t that he charged me around £85. Mansell - yes I think he could sort yours with ease as well. The only problem I see for you guys is the logistics... These two - one cost £60 the other £100 because it had a slight dent that he had to sort. One was originally the blue one that I found as a NOS item in Germany (45 euro bargain) and I had it repainted by another guy up in Halesowen but I was not really happy with the silver - it was too modern looking (smooth) and it glistened too much like graphite - a bit darker than original. So this was just a lightening up job, hence not as much work.

We do need a forum recommended paint guy- would be good business for him as well. Side panels- anyone got ones like this? PO of YJS bought a NOS one to replace this one, then put decals on it that are pretty poor. Surely this panel could be fluffed up to look good as new? It's perfect otherwise- lugs intact. just the usual rubbing away from 30 years of rider's legs. The stripe would need replacing- that's not a bad reflection it really is worn away...
