210 = def NA. The plot thickens....... Would this bike have sat at a dealers for a few years before being registered? I guess anything is possible. What is the actual registration date? 30/05/1984 , But it seems a long time from 1980 to 84 to be sat around doing nothing , my other thought was that it was an import but it has no import marker against it Once I get the logbook back in my name I will request some past info from DVLA and try and contact some onf the past owners

Re: decals...
Loz has recently got some good CB400NB ones via Imageworks.
If you are in a hurry, it could be worth having a word with them.
In my mind it seems the 400NA and 400NB ones appear easier to reproduce and come under less scrutiny......if you get me?

It could of been an import for sure. What I don't get is that it would of left Japan around mid 1981 at the latest... The DVLA have always been strict about not making vehicles 'appear newer'. Tiz a strange one - please keep us posted.

On the front of the V5 under "Special Notes" it will either say something like "Declared New at First Registration", which is normal. UK always worked to when a vehicle is first registered- not manufactured. Alternatively same section will say if it's an import....

My gut is that the bike was caught up in a dealers that possibly crashed.......And he had a few bikes sitting around unregistered for a few years whilst all got sorted out and then eventually sold.
One things for sure - there is no way a 210 vin would have been manufactured in 1984 as that paperwork above suggests. Production of the 400NC was well under way for around a year by then (230-on VIN) and even the ND may have started......
It is typical of some of the DVLA anomalies that can be found.
