Has anyone used the ultrasonic cleaners that you see on ebay? are they any good? I`m considering getting one for cleaning carbs and other small bits but I don`t want to waste my money if they aren`t worth bothering with. any opinions or advice is most welcome.

Got one from aldi, only complaint is its too small. Works very well on carbs but you have to strip them right down, and separate the 2 to fit into mine. Lots of hag, but worth it, they come up a treat. The shit that came out of the jet was surprising. I used a jewelry cleaner from maplins in mine, but the outside of the carbs needed some wd40 sprayed on them as they started to oxidise outside.

I saw them in aldi, thought they were a bit small.I was looking at a heated 3.2 ltr one on ebay but they are a lot of money if you don`t use them much.do you reckon they do a better job than a good soaking in carb cleaner would?

I don't know mate, hopefully someone more experienced in these things will be able to answer that. I put the bottom of a 4pt milk container in mine to increase its capacity but still very small. (practical sportsbike article)

If it's stuff that needs a general cleaning (as oppose to something intricate like carb innards etc), submerge it in a jug of diet/sugar free coke. Like the carb tops that Outrider posted - they'd come up like new. Obviously things with holes/galleys that need cleaning, ultrasonic is the way to go Oh, and I say diet/sugar free coke because it doesn't leave a sticky residue like full-fat coke will. For an example of the effect, find the dullest, mankiest 1p or 2p coin you can lay your hands on, put it in a cup of the afrore-mentioned coke, and leave it for 24 hours. Then take it out and rinse it under a rap and dry it. That's the reason why I don't drink coke!
