Hi All,
Whilst I have my carbs in bits (again) can I ask if the carb pistons are handed or interchangeable. I can see they have two cut outs in the body, one being slightly higher than the other, which way does the greater cut out face please? ( I have assumed it faces the airbox)
Also, I have new airbox to carb rubbers, again, they have a slightly sculptured internal part which matches the rear of the carbs, does that have to tally up with the corresponding shape on the carbs please (they look like air jets)
Any help gratefully received
Kind regards
Mac

the airbox to carb rubbers have a notch in them that locates on the airbox
the carb slides will only fit one way, they slide in a groove on that locates on a protrusion from that little black plastic cover at the top of the main body, its held down with one screw

Hi Buster,
Thank you, I didn't know if you put the wrong piston in the wrong carb then the cut aways/chamfers might affect the running of the bike?

Hi Buster, Thank you, I didn't know if you put the wrong piston in the wrong carb then the cut aways/chamfers might affect the running of the bike? to be honest I'v never really checked, I generally do one carb at a time, as I'm sure you know they can be an absolute pig to get all the internal airways and fuel ways properly clean. best advice I can offer there is stick with it, carb cleaner (at least one tin per carb) and an airline

just had a look inside a set of VB22's and I cant see any reason why the slides wouldnt swap without problem, the black plastic tab is located on the same side on each carb. not very recommended method of checking the slide action, put yer gob round the the bit circled in red and blow, check that each slide lifts to the top with roughly the same amount of huff and puff.
