We had a similar experience in Wales last month. Gill got a puncture - a screw in her rear tyre. Took a few attempts to get through to the AA then we got several messages, each putting the arrival time back. Not quite as bad for us, we were still in the B&B car park and had access to coffee & loos. The call was sub-contracted to a recovery service & the driver was great - very helpful - he phoned round & found a nearby tyre shop that had the correct size tyre in, loaded up the bike & took it & Gill to the shop while I followed. The tyre shop - Buckley Tyres - were great as well, and we were soon on our way to he Lakeside Cafe in Blaenau.

I broke down around 4 years ago 4th December on my way home from work I had a rear flat tyre it was freezing , why do the RAC have to send a mechanic before arranging a vehicle capable of getting a bike home , I told them it was a knackered tyre and not fixable , 3 hours waiting for the mechanic to say he couldn’t fix it and another 3 plus hours waiting for a truck I was frozen

That doesn't sound good, especially in cold weather like that. We were lucky, as well as the access to loos & coffee, it was a nice sunny day & probably only took 4 hours from phone call to riding away from the tyre shop.
