I still have a soft spot for them didn't do the moped thing but needed transport to get to the pit for 5.30 there was the pit bus but that meant getting up earlier and you need all the but beauty sleep you can at 16.i could go through the woods and over the pit tip on my greeves but in the winter I would look like I had done a shift so I got a honda cb250 same model as the one in the pic I know I needed to be 17 but I did not give a f**k them days great bike would get another if I get the chance and the pit soon made me grow up

I remember the pitch battles during the strikes, god I’m old 😂 |

Small world did my training there was in the fitting shop till I was 18 then my underground training spent most of my spare time on the pit tip. Got chased through the gardens at the side of the railway line when it kicked of big time talk about the grand national I thought I was in for a kicking from the met but a old girl opened her back door and let us run through her house then locked the door and told the police to f off 85 one of the best summers of my life. Are you still a donny lad lot of family in armthorpe and go there regularly on the superdream
