Anybody done an oil change on their 350 yet? I did my Hunter today & as usual ran the engine for a while to warm it up, then removed the drain plug and out came a tiny dribble. A bit of a panic, is there any oil in it! Checked the sight glass - yep there's oil in there but it's not coming out! I removed the plate covering the strainer & pulled that out & the oil drained out of there - a bit messier than getting it out via the drain plug.

I see, the 'drain plug' must be just for show. I'll have to put even more old newspaper under the bike if I have to remove that plate every time I change the oil!

Not done mine Ian but on the 500s the front drain was just for the small reservoir under the crank and would only release an eggcup full , I guess it's much the same - bit messy . But then I am usually

Probably forward thinking for that drain plug as my matchless g80 and most big singles of a certain age suffer from wetsumping when left idel just royal enfield keeping tradition alive😊

Guess that's it - a mixture of 'carry over' engineering & 'tradition' .

Pretty straightforward on the 650s, just a normal drain plug & a 'spin on' filter and I had an adjustable filter wrench that fitted this ok. The local Enfield group met up for a ride & chat today. They're a bit like our Superdream group - not many actually on their Enfields, including me again . I went on Gill's RSA to give it a much needed run. But there was a couple of Bullets & yes, the bottom of my Hunter crankcase is just the same as theirs.
