I do not restore i try just to recommission the bikes that come my way.some are to far gone or everybody are making them look new again,or a accumulation of parts that i have acquired over the years i will make a mongrel .just spent most of the day getting the center stand pin out on a francis barnett plover thats a proper bike name when its on the road and someone asks .the engine is rebuilt the amc engines were s**t but today you can make them a very good motor and the ignition can be converted to electronic .so the road you take is you make it as it was when it was built in 1957 and have a bike that was plagued with problems when new or engineer these problems out using modern tec and materials that will make a reliable nice bike to ride.some of my bikes have been with me for over 20 years and when parts let me down i will see if there are replacements that will improve the failed so the bikes evolve thrugh time .example the pin for the stand the one i took out is worn would you go as amc made it a mild steel shaft and leave at that or the way i will be going a stainless shaft two grease nipples fitted to the stand and bushes both ends .as the bike will be with me for some time and ridden i like to spend the time riding them not mending them.
