I'm half way there on my Hunter so I've been using my 400N for the last couple of weeks hoping to put the 3000 mile service off for a bit longer. It's a bit of a pain having to take it to the other end of the Island, get home then repeat it all again in reverse to get it back.

I think the 3000mile service is a "count the wheels" type of job , perhaps they could do it while you wait Ian ?

Don't think there was much involved with the 300 mile service either, but I never got that option. Still, I'll try & pick a dry day and he might lend me a bike to go home on (Gill hates going pillion & driving the car so I try & avoid either )

In theory the 300 service included valve clearances and an oil/filter change , iirc neither of those are in the 3000mile service , although I'll be doing an oil change then too .

Yes the 3000 is just a checkover ,dealer told me to go and get a coffee and have a walk while they did it rather than go home and come back

By pure coincidence, I was listening to a popular Enfield youtube site in the background while reading this thread, and was shocked to hear of an owner being charged four and a half hours labour for tappet adjustment, (17.45 mins in on attached vid) how do spivs like that manage to stay in business. Good thing most on here are more than capable of such tasks.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_4sgqwUz5s&ab_channel=stuartfillingham

As the last from new bike was I 1979 never gone through these mandatory services to keep your warranty as for cars I ask for a itemised bill and will query if not satisfied. Never had a problem yet but I have found if you do not complain and query the bill they get away with it and if you get no joy I complain to the manufacturer most have sites on Facebook and are quick to respond when you slag off there product or people and companies that youse there name.it pays to complain when you know there trying it on and they know there tacking the piss

There's no mention of the valve clearances on my receipt, but I suppose he could have done them......
