Following on from the other thread, I think I'm happy with the balancer chain tension now. Gave it another tweak, but I'm suspecting that the noise from the right side case might be the oil pump chain all along! I can see it is very loose and I remember when I had the cover off a while back I noticed that, but concluded that it could not jump the sprockets so should be OK as no way of adjusting, but definitely sloppy. Having read some other posts about this chain it seems it is like this even from new, so not sure if replacing will make any difference. Maybe after the summer I might replace clutch plates and do the chain at same time. I just watched a short Youtube clip of a 250SD being ridden and sounds the same as mine, so may be normal? Clip is here.. youtu.be/UTgqCnPrAQk Main drive chain..... I just recently put on new chain and sprockets, but was not not happy with tension as there seemed to be uneven tight slack, so took a closer look. I have concluded that the tensioner marks on the rear axel tensioners cannot be relied on to ensure both are evenly aligned. The right side mark does not align with spindle bolt centre, but left one doe, so I ignored the mark and went for what I determined was the centre of spindle to align with marks on swinging arm. Anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks for this confirmation Ian, also the heads up on the alignment tool.
