So got the engine out today, it generally looks ok around the outside apart from the pictures. As thread title says, will I get away with using this as it is?

Thats one of the front mounting points buggered - IMHO it needs fixing either replace the case or a god ali welder and a donor mount

It came off the bike like that, another previous bodge. Bit of a ball buster as the head and barrels and rest of the engine are looking fine.

As the engine is an integral part of the frames stability that's going be a problem and will need a proper fix to ensure correct mounting position and tension I would think.

agree with others, I wouldnt even attempt a repair, I'd just swap the lower casing (not that big a job) for a replacement. all the engine mounting bolts are specific and critical as the engine is a stressed member, you dont get the strength if the metal is missing.
any lower casing should fit (250, 400) just steer clear of the 450 and 400a as they have (plug ugly) oil coolers

Yeah it’s bit of a choker. Hopefully uncovered all the bikes “history” now. Although I’m sure there’s some more nasties lurking.
