good read alfie but when talking about historic vehicles we can go back 100 plus years and over time all fuel create the same problems ,as with are superdreams that have never been near e10 fuel.most jap bikes from the 70s onwards will have the same problems as with e5 .brit stuff i am talking 80s back have problems with modern fuel but thats more amal carbs fault with the cheap nasty crap they make there carbs out off.wassel now make a concentric thats cheaper and is happy with e10.whe had all this scaremongering years ago when unleaded came out my 1974 triumph had 600 miles on the clock when i got it in 2009 now has over 8000 on it now the engine as never been apart and as run on modern fuel all its life yes its had a new set of carbs but that was through standing around doing nothing most of its life.how many on here have stepped up there jets on there bikes you will find they run better and cooler with the fuel of today.my dyna did not like unleaded from certain garages but the new e10 it's even happy with asda's finest .as was stated removing the ethanol you may be down to 87 octane fuel and that may do more harm than the ethanol.as with all old vehicles there not in everyday use and high maintenance and the biggest problem with ethanol it attracts water and if its in a container and its a steel one over time the water will separate and settle in the lowest part and rot it out.the bikes i have that have fuel in once a week i will give them a shake to stop this .my 1949 matchless what was that running on when it was new.as the USA started using e10 in the 70s and are the biggest marker on this planet then for the motorcycle industry i think bikes from then till now will be e10 compliant

Yes thanks Alfie. Very informative. So E5 is a better option (all be it more expensive), but still best to either remove the ethanol or use an additive. I have seen this, hence my earlier question.
