What are the thoughts on the need for the throttle return cable? Not got one fitted at present and there does not seem an issue with the carbs closing down on their own spring power.
Does it make any significant difference?

I've not got them on any of my SDs or my wife's RSs & didn't have it on my old CB500 for 30,000 miles. It has been said if one of the wire strands in the pull cable broke it could hold the throttle open, but I look after the cables & replace them before they get worn, so I think it's very unlikely.
