So this is where I am so far. It's a bit slow as I'm fitting in the rebuild in spare time between work, home projects, garden (in summer), etc.. You know how it is! This is how it was when I got it...not technically a 'barn' find, more a derelict house find and had sat there for 15 plus years. Blown head gasket, all coked up, water damage in one bore, gunged everywhere like carbs, etc. No tank, but will now be Silver as I got hold of a pretty good tank. Now at this stage with cleaned up and rebuilt engine top end, rear and front end renewed with new bearings seals, etc. Now looking at from brake which as seized solid, so new piston seals ect. Is this the worst master cylinder condition ever! I have found seal kits for the caliper and cylinder, but can't find the large o ring seal for the cylinder reservoir that fits into cylinder body. So if anyone knows where these can be found that would be good. Anyway special thanks to Gee and Alfie who have helped with parts and advice on the project so far. Lots more to do and parts to get such as indicators, mirrors, grab rails that were all missing. Dave.

The one I've taken out does not look too bad. But I like to replace seals with new if refurbishing just to be safe. So probably yours might be the same if used, but if it's surplus to requirements I'll be happy to have it. 😀 Thanks.

Gee Just had a closer look at my o ring. It's not that good, so if if you have one in good nick I'd be grateful for it. Otherwise I'll take Busters advice and search for size on ebay. Hadn't seen Silvers had one but don't want to pay that for a piece of rubber!

So this is where I'm at. On the finishing straight I hope! A few things I want to sort before getting it on the road. Have a bit of a clatter/rattle (not too much) on top end, so need to check the valve tappets and cam chain tension I guess. Also one of the new rear indicators got damaged while in the garage..and as it's only me and my lady that go in there and it wasn't me...well just saying! Exhausts need replacing at some point, but will look at that maybe after the summer. Engine casings need a clean up again after sitting in garage over the winter. Repaired the seat, but not entirely happy with the cover, so probably will go for a replacement cover. Will need to look at re-chroming a few parts like tank lock, handle bars, possible forks, but again that is for later this year or next. All that said, it has not been ridden, so don't know how it will perform and any issues to sort.

Looks good Dave. The plastic indicators on SDs are a rubbish design, I'm forever breaking mine squeezing between bikes in the shed. The tank lock's alloy so could clean up a bit with Solvol & a bit of elbow grease.

I thought it looked like the lock was chromed as there is some pitting like you get when rust breaks through chrome. I'll take a closer look. Thanks.

It’s normally the near side rear indicator that gets damaged as that’s the side you pull it up on the centre stand - the NSR are the rarest to find as NOS
