Hi all, had a few superdreams over the years plus nearly all of the '70's Japanese bikes ever made !!! Anyway picked another one last night. Its in fairly good condition but runs really badly. Feels like carb/fuel issues. Won't rev, feels like it running on 1 cylinder ? Did a little bit on it today and found under the left hand panel a blue wire and a white wire both with spade connectors just hanging loose ?? Also a block connector with 4 wires going into it but not connected to anything Very strange. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, welcome along. Those wiring colours don't ring any bells, I'll take a look under a panel tomorrow. Running issues do sound like carbs on a 250, a good clean & setting up properly should sort it.

Here's what my 400N looks like under the left side cover There's a 'Manuals' section, you'll find a colour wiring diagram which is a big help in tracing wiring, but you need to have 20 posts to access it I think. From what i can see, the wires in the 2 way connector at the top are blue & white. I think these might be from the alternator to the CDI. Along the bottom, 4 connector blocks, 2 of which are 4 way, one with the 3 yellow alternator AC wires & the other, 3 wires again, goes to the Reg/Rec, but I could be wrong - it would be best if you have a look at the wiring diagram & check

I'll try and take a picture and show. The blue and white come out of the loom on their own, sheathed together, they have male spade connectors but are just hanging there ?

Strange... There is an unconnected green wire in there, it's for the German market flasher relay which has 3 terminals rather than the 2 on UK models, but I think that's the only one. Went for a ride on my 400NA today & took a picture of the electrics plate on that, Much the same as the N, but the wire colours are a bit clearer.
The 12v wires in the red connector spades are worth taking a look at, they carry a bit of current & can corrode badly causing problems
