Thanks for your help on the seat guys.....
Managed to remove it using the key.
Next up......I'm sure there is remnants of petrol (in clearish liquid format) in my tank..
Does anyone agree that the best course of action (just to confirm it's petrol) is drop a lighted match in it?
Has anyone ever done it and is it advised?
Thanks
Rogerring

Could be an illuminating experience!!!!
Dont forget to capture the moment with a clear photograph.........preferably BEFORE they cart you off to the morgue.

I'm fond of my eyebrows......in fact they have been insured in the past for £245.64....
Could they be at risk?

Depends......
If you are stood BESIDE the bike, looking over the top of the tank then, yes...I would say there is a good chance yer caterpillars could get singed...
HOWEVER
If you are SAT on the bike, I would be more worried about a hairyer problem all told myself..............

That's helpful Greybeard, thank you.
Hmmmm.....sounds a little dangerous this classic bike ownership.

Haha true......
Leads me nicely on to my next question.
Any idea where I can get the best price sparking plugs?
Ideally ones that work.

The absolute best price?
FREE
Nick em off a running bike parked up outside the cafe in Shakespearland....
I recommend a Silver one as I have heard that it runs quite well........................

The revs hang a bit so I've heard.
Maybe the plugs are dodgy?

Wrong silver bike...........its the other one you need to keep an eye open for.
Doesnt get out much, but you will be blinded by it when you see it!!!!
As for revs hanging.....have you thought about a dose of castor-oil? I mean, in the trottle link cables not yer neck!! Just maybe, the cables and/or carb linkages are a little gummed up. Had a similar issue with RMM a week or so back in that the throttle wouldnt 'snap' back shut. Sorted now though. (Only remembered this just now...)

Would you all forgive me if I swapped it for a rusty Beeza?
God I'm tempted by that 66 Lightning I showed you.
I wanna be Boon.

Will do on the revs CT.
She goes in soon to have new tyres and the carbs frolicked.
He'll sort it.....he's quite good with 'em.

To be honest mate, you couldnt go far wrong with that 66.
It would be a good trophy to have in the cabinet. A tidy sum mind, but ask yourself: how often do you ride the Duke and/or thhe Bandit (if you still have it). And once the 400 has gone, you will have the 'ornament' the 'rider' and............ it has to be the 66 in my view.
For me with my bikes, the Pan is my everyday bike, the SD is for fun, the scoot for our holidays and the XS is the ornament. When the cafe is built, that too will be an ornament to be ridden on sunny days for fun.
