Hi. Im Richard, living in ashford, former collector of 40 odd bikes, now all sold (getting on bit now!), but just bought old project cb400N to help me keep my hand in.

Welcome Richard. My CB400NC was my first foray into restoring a Honda after years of Italian, Brit and US bikes. I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality and readily available spares, NOS and used. Compared to Italian bikes spares are relatively inexpensive. One thing to watch for is rotting of the swing arm on the right side underneath close to the pivot point because, I assume, that part gets no oil or grease from the engine and chain. Another problem is engine mounting studs corroding (galvanic reaction?) perhaps requiring drilling out! Lastly, the centre stand pivot can be notoriously difficult to remove, and probably best done engine out. Some have made an improvement by adding a grease nipple for the pivot. Dennis

Welcome from Steve in Portsmouth. I am also a new member who joined in December with a rough 1980 CB250N to restore. Probably like many others in that 55-65 age range who had a bike in the early 80'S and now family grown up and not working has the time to spend on old bikes .
