So winter seems to be setting in and thoughts turn to bike hibernation, was thinking about tidying up the pitted chrome on my fork legs, new seals etc and also spraying the lowers black as per a post on here. My question is, i have a blue 250 Deluxe with black reverse comstars, would black fork lowers actually be too much ? Have googled lots of images and cannot see any black fork / black wheel combos, my bike will never be concours / showroom condition, just thinking out loud really. Appreciate any input. Regards, bb

I suppose black is the best colour if you don't think the the fork cases will clean up ok or are deeply scuffed / scored. All the 250 deluxes were as per the right one below, the other more satin, left one is for a 250NC. (both are the same part number)

The forks on both my 400 SDs polished up ok, so I left them like that & they just get a clean up with Solvol now & again. The 250NB forks were too pitted, so I painted them with silver engine enamel finished with a bit of clear lacquer. Did them again last year as the paint had a picked up a few marks on front, but it was about 7 years & a few thousand miles later. The forks on my wife's 250 RSs are black and seem to have got to the repainting stage much quicker, but it could just be the paint I used on them isn't as tough as the silver/lacquer was on the NB
