Once all of the dust and crud from storage was removed she cleaned up very nicely and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.
How is it here with custom projects?
I ask because i own a classic BMW and on the forum for those machines tightening to the wrong torque specification makes you the spawn of the devil. Chopping and customising sends members to a church roof with a high powered rifle!!

Hello I know where you are going with that comment but I believe this forum is for all superdream and all 3 value honda twins. For the purist and the different,it's a site for people who want to keep superdreams on the road. Look forward to your build

I recently tried a Honda 400 Super Four tank I'd been given on my CM out idle curiosity, mainly with thoughts of increased range on my next project in mind. I've added a pic for reference/amusement value..

Yep, what Mark & Terry said . As well as the CM & Chinese possibilities, there's been a few SD cafe racers & bobber builds on here using other tanks that meet your requirements so it might be worth having a look in the restorations section. I've often thought of doing a cafe racer on one of my SDs, and I liked this way of 'disguising' the SD tank by the paint style. I also like the way it keeps most of the original parts - not 'cos I'm into keeping it original, 'cos it saves money buying more bits

That superfour tank looks quite interesting did the rear mount line-up? (I'm thinking of it on a 450dx).

Chopping and customising sends members to a church roof with a high powered rifle!! Chopping a very good frame does make me cringe a bit, but its probably 3.5 decades since I've done any full-bore, so I would likely miss . I just abstain on that bit. I like some innovative customisation, find it interesting, more subtle stuff than radical change, love titanium stuff! Intend to do minor mods on a few I have, but likely not the frame or engine. What ever floats your boat ! (I was a Shipwright to trade ) on here....

Thank you all for the input, it is much appreciated. The CM tanks looks exactly the right fit, but i cannot find one on ebay currently but have set a search thanks Terry The Chinese tanks at 7cm wide at the front tank mount point, and the Dream is 10cm, I wonder if i could stretch the tank out a bit and shave off some rubber? Thanks for the info Lovely example of the way the paint can hide the shape Ian, it makes it look like a 400 four tank (which might be an option as i can find those_

it might be worth having a look in the restorations section. Thanks, for the point towards that section, for some reason on first glance (what my partner would call a “man look”) I didn’t see that area, there is a lot of good stuff there Thanks also for the friendly point, some forums would have seen an avalanche of snotty sods shouting at me for not using the search facility. Search facilities on forums are notoriously bad so thanks all round Happy days Regards Bob

There are quite a few CM 400T tanks on ebay it's the same as the 250 ,cheapest I saw was £66 rising to around £600 but worth a look and yes you're right about the search function I can never find anything with it ( Once you get your post count up to twenty there are even more sections on the forum that open up for you ,so get posting Bob )

That superfour tank looks quite interesting did the rear mount line-up? (I'm thinking of it on a 450dx). The Super Four tank is 2-3" longer than the original, so a new or modified original bracket will be required at the rear. In the pic the tank mounts are resting on top of the front rubbers rather than slid into them. There's plenty of room in the tunnel to seat the tank lower than shown if desired. It actually looks much better in the flesh than the picture suggests, it makes the bike look and feel much bigger, particularly from above, as it's quite a porker..
