I’d just like to know what brand will bolt on, if any. I want something that looks attractive too.
Thanks 👍🏻

TEC shocks are a very good replica of the FVQ shocks, very good value. Certainly would recommend them based on looking at the pair I bought (but have not yet used). I read one post, that someone had concern the Lock-nut is below the fork top plate, and had compressed the shock, undone the lock nut under, wound it down byjust over the height of a halfnut, wound down the topplate and put a half nut above the black plate/fork as an additional lock. Havn't really got a strong opinion, but if you take them straight out the box and fit them, they probably would not be of concern, perhaps just care not to twist them off bike.
These two are also good;-
Hagon shocks circa £150 www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/catalog/partdetail.aspx?partno=33031SA
IKON (KONI design fully re-buildable) Basix Chrome/Black Motorcycle Shock Absorbers Honda CB400N 1982
The picture is of not the actual shocks on this listing (I hope ).

I'll be using the Tec shocks too, look fairly decent for the money, and won't be worn out and rusty like the originals I have.

When I had my bike back in 1980, I wanted Hagon shocks on my 250.
The FVQ's are shit, the faster you go, the more shit they get.
The SuperDream was never the best handling bike at the time, but it was not the worst.
The Hagons, helped to balance it out at the rear.
If you ride fast, get the Hagons, if you just go for a slow ride out, get any shock on it, the copies look the same and will probably, being a more modern shock, do just as good a job (cough cough) as the FVQ's.
Gee.

hagon shocks are very good but as we do not ride like a 18 year old the tec shocks will be probably better than what was fitted .the problem with the superdream is how they are fitted ,it reducers what is out there.i got a set of period koni shocks in a box of of superdream bits when they gave them away so i have had them a long time.koni is now icon and they do not make repair kit for there old stuff.the o rings are of the shelf no problem there well i found some seals on ebay well the company that advertise koni repair kits .he sent me two seals and they work fine and a set of period koni shocks on the 400 .as the front are uprated the koni rear now balance it out ,a bit on the stiff side but thats how i like my bike

Just came across this thread as I was searching for info on Hagon shock that are on my 250N SD that I'm in process of rebuilding. Don't know anything about these, but want to know if I can service them easily. Not sure if the oil needs replacing and would also like to dismantle to clean up. Also looks like they may be adjustable, but can't see how that works. Any pointers from anyone would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave.

For anyone thinking of buying shock absorbers give David Silver Spares a miss. The fork spacing at the bottom of them is too wide and either your original bolts wont be long enough or if you use longer bolts then the forks will bend inwards as you do them up . These from TEC Bike Parts are better quality and a good fit. www.tecbikeparts.com/product/cb250n-cb400n-cb400t-at-tec-shock-absorbers/
