Hi
I just would interested in Members views and experiences on what Sealers they would use on Gaskets and in particular Sealing the Crankcases.
I've always used Hylomar for Gaskets and Stag Sealbond for Crankcases, however, things must have moved on a bit since I did any of this type of work I guess so would be interested in any feedback.
Many thanks

Hi Folks
Thought I would splash out and use Hondabond. However, having decided to go down that route I found there where two versions: I know that'll teach me to be clever LOL.
However done some further research and found out there are a few articles on this and it appears that Hondabond 4 is not to be used in gasketless applications!!! Thought I would throw that in, if anyone else had encountered it. Very interesting as anyone any further thoughts?
Philip

I saw a top BMW technician on a youtube vid about a year ago warning of the perils of silicone sealants, stating how excess globs can find their way into oil gallery's, putting me off the stuff.
I've always had success with good old fashioned Wellseal, easy to apply neatly with a small brush, and easy to clean up any excess. Stinks a bit though..

Hi Willy used Wellseal on my sons NSR250 some years back and I believe it used to be recommended on a 2 Stroke forum.
I don't know what was used on my bike, but, on stripping it down there were Silicon looking deposits clinging to the Oil Strainer so gone down the road of Hondabond HT for my sins.
I think the secret is to apply thinly and evenly as possible (I've decided to use a brush this time)and let it go off for no more than 1 minute (which knowing me will the time it takes me to apply it LOL) before assembling the Crankcases.
Any experiences of this would be gratefully appreciated as I am nearing the time to put things back together, just awaiting for bits to arrive.
