As I often order in UK with shipment to Belgium, I wonder if someone experienced the changes that some sellers anounced. Eg. on the techbikeparts website they communicate following:
UPDATE 8th January 2021 – Shipping on orders over 2kg going to Europe is currently disabled due to our courier (DPD Local) temporarily suspending their Europe services to adapt to the new processes required. We hope to enable this again as soon as possible but we do not have a definite date yet. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
From January 1st 2021 the United Kingdom has left the EU.
This will affect our sales to any customers in the EU.
Customers within the UK and from outside the EU will be unaffected.
Brexit, all EU customers were paying UK VAT (Value Added Tax) on purchases from us. This is no longer the case.
Our website is designed to show you the correct price based on your location. If you are in the UK, it will show the a price including VAT. If you are outside the UK, it will exclude the VAT from the listing price.
It does this through a function called Geolocation, if you have blocked Geolocation via your browser, the correct price will be shown once you enter your shipping address.
EU customers will now pay VAT (on arrival) on orders from us at their country’s standard rate. We are not tax professionals so cannot advise you on the exact tax amount to be paid. We recommend checking with your local authority to find the tax rate and if there are any exclusions.
IMPORTANT – The VAT will be paid by the EU customer and collected by the shipping agent/courier before delivery. It is vital you provide an accurate phone number and email address as this will be used to collect the tax. If they are unable to contact you on the provided contact details and the parcel is returned to us, we may not refund the shipping fee.
As the final details for Brexit were finalised so late, couriers are only just adapting to the changes. As such, we anticipate that prices may change for shipping to the EU from the UK in the near future.
It is highly likely that any orders leaving the UK will be subject to additional delays whilst the post and border services adapt to the new systems in place. We apologise in advance if this affects you.
Did anybody experienced this change yet? What happens with orders bought in EU and shipped to UK? Same procedure? No VAT and VAT + import duties on arrival?

i would think it will be, I've a package inbound from Lux, that was bought in December but not posted until a few days ago, because of local COVID restrictions and similar post issues. Will soon have experience.
Had a parcel from outside the UK in Nov, the wife sending the son some clothes, £80 to get the parcel released...
From Japan, I think it is just VAT added, no Duty, I think that deal is still the case, but the VAT is bad enough.
A chap from DPD was on the TV saying that that they could not cope with the amount of people phoning with questions on the paperwork as well as the cross channel situation. Someone from Dover yesterday saying 20%+ of the freight still problematic. and volume is well below normal.
Some Scottish Seafood exporters have suspended operations as they could not afford for a shipment to be delayed and be spoiled (£500k).
Many other examples...

I am awaiting an order from CMS which was ordered on the 27th and posted on the 5th, still awaiting what will happen when it arrives. I know I have been screwed quite badly importing parts from the US. I know my invoice is showing VAT at 20% at source so not sure yet what this means

I have recently started a new night shift job with a European Haulier.
From what I can make you, if you are sending anything overseas...and that Include Northern Ireland, you need a licence (permit) to do so.
Now then, most people that send items overseas, do not have this licence as yet. easily accessible through Gov.uk site.
My new company has it and we have other shippers items stacked up around our yard waiting for clearance, from Coffee cups and lids to water pumps etc.
Good business for us, but more costly for the shippers.
I am surprised DPD do not have their finger on the pulse, Tesco, Sainsbury's and other main suppliers have and they ship FOOD to oversea stores.
I was in Cairnryan last night collecting a goods trailer and the place was polluted with freezer trailers boarding and onboarding no problems at all.
Just to clarify, alot of the pallets on my trailer were for the Republic but we had done the paperwork correctly, so I was told, therefor no issues.
Gee.

My CMSL parcel now seems to be moving after 10 days stationary. Still nothing on the CMS site saying anything about brexit or any changes so still not sure quite what is going on. Hoping for no further charges when it arrives but will see what happens

I bought a part from a guy in Spain before Christmas. It still hadn't arrived 30 days later so he refunded me.
We kept in touch as we watched the tracking bounce back and forth between Spain and the UK, then last week we got an "out for delivery" notification.
I was all ready for it and got the payment ready to send to him. Then he messaged me to tell me it had arrived back with him.
He's given up sending to the UK. I've had similar experiences when asking EU sellers shipping costs to the UK.

In the last few days I have had to send to Northern Ireland and Jersey. I have always had to complete a customs form for Jersey, no problem with that. But now I have to do one for NI too!
The forms are provided by the courier and it looks like each courier has their own version. The ones I have completed ask for recipients ID. Passport or National ID numbers. Like I am going to ask my buyers for that! Also there is a bit where I need to put the tarriff number, whatever that is. I did try the link on the form but I cannot work out what I need to put for what I sold.
If there are problems with my buyers getting the stuff, then I might have to do the same as the EU sellers and exclude NI, something I don't want to do.

We order a couple of boxes of Tayto crisps from the manufacturers in N.I. every few months & I'd just placed an order during this thread, so I was a bit concerned about how long they would take to get here, but as usual they arrived by Royal Mail a few days after I placed the order. Tayto have my name, address, email & phone number, but no additional info was asked for. Is it just inbound to N.I. that's the problem ?

Yes, I think it is just inbound to N.I. at the moment. There was a virtual meeting on BBC the other day between haulage and Gov folk, and there seems to be in some sort transition until April, so I'm not sure what happens then.... I think one said if they have 50 pallets on a artic;- instead of one listing for the shipment, they now have to do it per pallet, if the truck is delayed it misses the ferry they have to have to regenerated it all. If one pallet of the 50 gets damaged or falls of the Truck, they have to regenerate all the paperwork! I'm sure we could not make this up, but they have .

I've just been looking through my orders to check my NI ones since Jan 1 and noticed that the ones I booked my shipping through with Packlink didn't need any extra paperwork, despite them going with Hermes, but the those booked directly with Hermes do. The ebay offer in December and January was half price shipping booking with Packlink, now ended. So it seems booking through a parcel broker you don't need customs forms but booking direct with them you do! The parcel I sent 3 days ago with them, along with the customs forms (missing ID details and tarriff number) has been delivered so all is good. They probably have not even looked at the papers, just chucked it on the lorry and off it went. Our big Tesco does Tayto crisps, I noticed them a few days ago.

Our big Tesco does Tayto crisps, I noticed them a few days ago. That would make things easier, but the Tesco here doesn't stock them. We get the Rough Cuts which nobody seems to stock here & even their ordinary crisps are hard to find now.

I got my crankshaft bearings and seals today, no charge, just a long delay in them arriving. I see that CMs now state on their website that UK orders will incur an £11.50 charge and 2% so depending on whether items are available in the UK it will be a decision every order whether I pay the charges or order in the UK. I tended to use CMS not because they were cheaper but they had better stocks and it was easier to get most items in one place. Used them a lot for my XS750 rebuild
