on the subject of MFI, I thought its trade arm carried on as howdens joinery? but I might be wrong Do you also remember Comet, Dixons, Trents and Beejams? (to name just a few). yep, Comet and Dixons I remember well and Dixons I especially miss (big boys toy shop ) I dont recall Trents and Beejams though, were they more of a down south thing? or is it just me the bumpkin that rarely ventures into a city

It was actually Bejams (just read up on it) and lasted until 1989 it would appear. It was a frozen food chain later to be taken over by Iceland. Maybe it was a Southern only thing, not sure.

I worked for Dixons in Cardiff around 1987 and the Saturday before Chistmas we were worked off our feet. We took just over £97,000 in that one day. This was a normal high street shop and back when you there were shops in the high street.

What about Woolworths and C&A ? They still have C&A in some cities overseas e.g. Amsterdam. Woolworths and Comet were both part of the Kingfisher Group as well as B&Q, Superdrug and Charlie Brown Autocentres.

We are all guilty....if we don't use it, we will lose it.
But it's a sign of the times I guess, even before this COVID thing.

Did you have Great Mills up North? certainly did, in fact I was looking through some old boxes in the garage a while back and came across an old tube of silicon with a great mills price sticker on it (long ago gone off).

Funny when you think of the old service stations too.
I remember getting smurf car stickers from one possibly National?
