The seal was leaking so I had to try to put in a better one. A new experience! I pulled out the seal using a stainless steel wood screw, the iron ones where to soft.I damaged the threads. I had to drill two opposing holes to get the screw in and pull the seal. Then I shined up the shaft to get a good surface for the new seal. I oiled the new seal and tapped it in with a tool I made from a piece of wood. I worked without haste trying not to destroy anything. The seal for my 1982 CB400N has Honda part no 91206-MC0-000.
