I have a spare set of NB discs, apart from the additional holes in the NC discs they seem the same - am I right

Is it my eyes or is the NB one larger in diameter than the NC one

Is it my eyes or is the NB one larger in diameter than the NC one Optical illusion Graham, the NB has another disc under it, both 240mm diameter

I think they moved to a different fixing on the nc, 5 through bolts instead of 10 studs?, my earlier na discs are smaller in diameter

My German NB discs are the same as the Left and have through bolts, The NC discs also have through bolts
Think we are going to have a few responses on this

it might just be an optical illusion, but has the disc on the right got a narrower contact area for the pads?

e.g. some models, not all... 240mm Dia. Discs CB400N & CB750/CB900F 256mm Dia. Discs e.g. 1980 NISSAN single pot calipers. (CB250N 256mm Dia. Disc same disc as CB750 /CB900F) 240mm Dia. Discs (CB125TDC) CB400N & CB750/CB900F2 256mm Dia. Discs e.g.1981/2 twin pot calipers , Lightening slots, smaller disc contact area. (paper gaskets between hub and disc on some later through bolted wheels) Calipers adapted to different disc diameters, by using different caliper brackets! eg twin pot calipers 240/256mm brackets..
256mm disc mounted on CB400NC wheel....
e.g. 256mm diameter single disc and 2 x 30mm caliper standard on CB250NDD & USA CB400T Hawk (1980ish?) for example. Though different part numbers and disc style from the pic above...

That leads to another question then If the CB125 has a 240mm disc dows this mean the caliper body is the same as the twin pot 400NC

(I've a VF800 Master Cyl, to use if I get round to fitting a fairing to one of the bikes, but may be marginally too powerful for driving 4 x 30, but about 9% below driving 4 x 32mm have to check the calcs again though, don't know how/if the ABS complicates the ratio, but I think it is just 1 of 6 pistons that is odd sized on the VF. Another mini project)
Once I do a functional overhaul of the standard CB400NC caliper I can put them back on with the 256mm discs, giving a just under 7% braking force increase.. but I better get out and bleed the brakes to ensure they work!

I'v just had a look at cb125td (chose 84 as model year, for no reason other than) the caliper complete fits to a few interesting models (silverwings mostly) I'd guess that these fitments are dictated by the bracket not the caliper. search for brake pots and you get a list of 316 (only shows first 250) common fitments, so lots of search options out there. have you got brake caliper problems pete? or is this just an interest thing

I've had a CB125TD twin pot caliper with a 400 disk on my 250NB for a few years now, not as good as the twin disks on the 400, but better than the single piston set up
